Once, a architect spoked about architecture and environmental design. But, what is the difference between both of them? Your can search for answers in encyplopedia, on internet or even ask a architect for it. You will become a vary on different views and opions. But they all will not tell you what really the answer is: it’s all in your experience of your way how to express architecture and/or environmental design.

For me architecture is environmental design. Why?

The earth is one huge natural open environment. When human became the knowledge about how to manage posession and experience power they divided the planet into their properties like kingdoms and empires.  Once half the world around and another time a small piece of this world. It’s here that enclosing the open natural environment began.

Today we still have divided pieces around the world known as countries. But, they still are enclosed environment because we’ve bordered it. And each country is splitted into provinces, counties or whatever. They have their borders too. So, they still are enclosed environment.

Inside provinces and counties you have cities and villages. It’s getting a smaller world now. But, we still use borders to let visitors know were the place begins and were it ends.

We go much further inside by dividing the city or village into pieces of properties for building. Each property has its own borderline by builidng a house on it. Now, what are we still doing? Enclosing the tyniest piece of the natural environment into a place of your own.

Architecture is visualizing that tyniest piece into a usefull form while applying colors, materials and construction techniques at the same time.

Environmental design looks the same but puts materials and techniques on the sideline. It’s only the form that counts.

In my country environmental design is equal to city- and landscape design.
